Delrin®, Acetal (POM)

Homopolymer acetal (Delrin®) exhibits superior room temperature strength, stiffness, and toughness. Copolymer acetal has superior performance in continuous high heat and hot water environments. In comparison to Delrin®, homopolymer acetal tends to have less porosity.

Typical uses for Delrin® include:

  • Bearing blocks
  • Belt guide bushings
  • Pump and valve parts
  • Manifolds
  • Gears
  • Wear pads
  • Jigs and fixtures

For applications that require complex or tight tolerances, acetal is a reliable selection due to its great machinability. Acetal is available in varying grades including, FDA compliant grade, enhanced bearing and wear properties, glass-filled, and medical. Color options are also available.

Key Characteristics:

  • Strong and stiff
  • Excellent machinability
  • Good dimensional stability
  • Low moisture absorption
  • Excellent wear properties in both wet and dry environments
  • Low friction
  • Good chemical resistance
