3.2.1….On Your Mark! Get Set. Go!
This past weekend, Roncelli Plastics was a participating sponsor at the Monrovia Old Town Soap Box derby. The popular derby is back, with the community in full support. There were 32 derby cars participating to raise money to benefit the local Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills. Most of the cars were driven by kids from the organization while sponsored by local organizations. It was a fun filled day at the derby with other festivities such as the 29th annual Street Rods Forever Car show and Lego Car brick derby where families built their own lego race cars to compete.

Children from various backgrounds got a chance to participate, including a child whose family was impacted by Monrovia fires, another who was being raised by a single parent juggling 3 jobs and other members of the Boy & Girls Club of the Foothills. This day brought tons of fun to kids and adults alike.
A Bit of History
The local Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills and Soap Box Derby was founded by retired Police Chief Joseph Santoro 20 years ago and this is its inaugural event after an extended break. It all started when Santoro who observed a special needs child at a local event and wanted to do something about.
